Knowledge based engineering system (kbes) for mechanic design activities

A methodologic change in the instruction of technologies involved in a product development and production is necessary since we are immersed in a knowledge society. Engineering, through the Solid Mechanics and Computational Mechanics topics, has had the duty to improve the products manufacturing processes through knowledge created in industrial design. That is why the actual manufacturing processes have to integrate the Supply Chain and Lean Manufacturing topics with the “CAx” (Computer Aided “x”) activities. Likewise, also they have to protect the intangible assets of an institution as it is the knowledge of CAE. Thus, a Knowledge Based Engineering System (KBES) is introduced which is developed to integrate the MS and MC theories in development, manufacturing and product development activities that are associated to industrial design practices.
