BM infiltration by lymphoma places the patient in Stage IV disease and these patients manifest poor prognosis and response to treatment. In patients with bone marrow involvement by lymphomas, the marrow smears and trephine sections are collectively interpreted for cytology, pattern of bone marrow infiltration, and sometimes IPT. Aspiration and biopsy of bone marrow are two techniques through which bone marrow is examined and the thorough evaluation include both since the two complement each other. Diffuse pattern of infiltration was most common followed by interstitial, mixed, paratrabecular and nodular.
