A simple, sensitive and inexpensive spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of Lambda-cyhalothrin is based on bromination followed by violet complex formation with leucocrystal violet. The method obeys Beers Law within the range of 0.6- 9.0 μg mL-1 at max 590 nm. The molar absorptivity and Sandal’s sensitivity were found to be 0.491 × 106 L mol-1cm-1 and 5.40 ×10-4 µg cm-2 respectively. The standard deviation, relative standard deviation, detection and quantification limits were also calculated. The interfering effect of various foreign species was also investigated. The results of the analysis were validated statistically and the proposed method was successfully applied to determination of Lambda-cyhalothrin in various environmental samples.
