This study investigated parental background and its influence on students’ career aspiration in Kumba I Sub-Division of the South West Region of Cameroon. The cross sectional survey design was used for the study. The sample comprised 80 upper sixth secondary school students. The simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques were used to determine the sample. A five-point Likert scale type questionnaire was used for data collection. Data were analysed using differential and inferential statistics. The main findings revealed that parental career, parental economic status, and parents’ level of education significantly influenced students’ carer aspiration. It was thus recommended that parents should give kids the possibility to choose their careers, the school counsellor should increasingly assist parents in providing career related modelling for kids, and parents should improve on their educational level because it significantly impacted the career aspiration of their kids.
