The effects of Quercetin and Naringin were investigated on stereotypys induced by the 5HT-2A and 5HT-3 agonist Quipazine and Dopamine (D1 and D2) receptor agonist Apomorphine in SD rats. Apomorphine-induced stereotypic behaviour and quipazine induced head twitches were also measured. The selected flavonoids quercetin and naringin exhibited significant antipsychotic activity in a dose dependent manner comparable to the standard drugs, Haloperidol (0.3mg/kg, i.p.) and Resperidone (0.1mg/kg, i.p.) at the dose of 100, 50 and 25 mg/kg for quercetin; 80; 40 and 20mg/kg for Naringin respectively.
