Polyaniline and PANI/CuCeO2 nanocomposites are synthesized by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline monomer by incorporating CuCeO2 nanoparticles using Ammonium persulphate as oxidant and Dodecyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid as surfactant at 0-5 0C. Different weight percentages of CuCeO2 (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) are used during in situ polymerization. The nanocomposites are characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared and X-Ray DiffractionTechniques. Surface morphology is studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy. Frequency dependent AC conductivity and dielectric properties of PANI/CuCeO2 nano-composites are analyzed in the frequency range from 50 Hz to 5 MHz at room temperature. The study of AC conductivity reveals that the presence of CuCeO2 enhances the conductivity and dielectric properties of the nanocomposites. The gas sensing properties were studied towards gases like ammonia, carbon dioxide, methanol and it is observed that the nanocomposite PDC-15 show maximum sensitivity at 130 0C temperatures.
