Dipolar addition forms a novel route for the synthesis of five membered heterocyclic compounds with high degree of regio and stereo selectivity. hence they form a versatile method for the synthesis of novel bioactive heterocycles useful as drug molecules in combinatorial synthesis. Although these 1,3-dipolarcycloadditon reaction does not replace existing methods of drug synthesis but rather it complements and extends them.
